The history of the place
The Café Prévert is an historical and emblematic place of the museum. In 1951, the brothers Jacques and Pierre Prévert opened a cabaret on the first floor of the current Maillol Museum: La fontaine des Quatres-Saisons.
The artists’ dressing rooms and the kitchen were located in the vaulted cellars that now house the Café Prévert.
During the installation of the museum in the 1990s, Dina Vierny, with the help of the architect Pierre Devinoy, restored the basements to their original size to accommodate the restaurant.
